Three types of innovation

Innovation through Serendipity, Error, or Exaptation Serendipity Innovation can happen in many ways. Accidental or serendipitous discovery is one way of innovation. This type of discovery is when that it occurs through luck or by accident (Tidd & Bessant, 2020) . The innovator is looking for one thing and, through the course of that research by chance, discovers a different breakthrough (Tidd & Bessant, 2020) . An excellent example of an accidental breakthrough is Columbus's discovery of the New World. In 1492, Columbus sailed west from Spain (Beecham, 2017, November 18th) . Finding a new route to India and its spice riches, free from competition on the eastern way, is the goal of the expedition funded by the Queen of Castile (Beecham, 2017, November 18th) . A great example of an accidental breakthrough. Error Innovation can also happen by mistake. Charles Goodyear in the early 18 th century, like many other researchers at the time, was looking for ways to make...

IBM PS/2 IBM introduced the revolutionary personal computer, the IBM PC, in 1981 ("PS/2: the beginning of the end of the IBM PC," 2012) . However, not the first mass-market personal computer; that it was an IBM computer legitimized personal computer usage. The IBM PC was a runaway success in the micro-computer market that launched IBM to PC dominance in the early 1980s ("PS/2: the beginning of the end of the IBM PC," 2012) .   Figure 1 IBM PC Note . To regain the leading position and keep it IBM introduced the PS2 line in 1987 (locksmith, 2006) . IB...

The Socio-Technical System design

The Socio-Technical System design Definition The socio-technical system theory Hayashi and Baranauskas (2013) discuss a holistic approach to the insertion of technological artifacts into an education system not only through the formal classroom settings but also through the informal and non-formal aspects of all of the users, including teachers, students, administrators, janitors, parents, siblings, and society. The theory does not focus on any single aspect but considers all aspects of using the technological devices, which happens to be XO computers from the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) program in a school in Brazil. Description In this paper's scenario, the researchers conducted a qualitative study of the deployment of computers in classrooms of a Brazilian school. The research aims to determine ways to consider the successful implementation of technological systems. The idea is to have input into the project from different aspects such as formal school officials, te...
